Fermi Press publishes a small list by invitation. If your material fits, we set a chapter at our own cost, so you can judge the quality before anything is agreed.

Nine books already in print, with many more on the way. Their authors teach at MIT, Stanford, Brown, IIT and IISER.

\chapter{Energy and Momentum}

Momentum conservation is the crown jewel
of Newtonian mechanics. It lets you analyse
a collision without knowing anything about
the forces inside it. The law owes its power
to a symmetry: under a Galilean boost the
total momentum shifts by the total mass
times the boost velocity.

Who we already work with

You would be in remarkable company.

Fermi Press already sets books for a Nobel laureate in Physics, a Boltzmann Medallist, and recipients of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, across physics, engineering and computer science. Their material is already taught at MIT and Stanford, and department deans are in conversation with us about the next editions.

Nine books in print. Many more on the way. The shelf below is the proof.

Nine books in print. Many more on the way.

Every book on this shelf was set by Fermi Press, from its author’s own material. This is the shelf we would set yours beside.

2DPrinted book. Premium print & PDF, figures, index, ISBN. 4DPrinted book + Euler. The Fermi tutor, reachable from a mark on the page. Tap any cover to open its detail: extent, contents, sample spread.
The work

Whatever state your material is in, it becomes a finished page.

LaTeX, slides, a scanned manuscript, a chapter you abandoned in 2016. These are real interior pages from real Fermi Press books.

Correct by construction

Every figure is computed from your equations, not drawn by hand.

A hand-drawn diagram can lie: an arrow a little off, a curve that bends the wrong way, an error a student then memorises. Ours cannot. Each figure is generated from the mathematics itself, so it is exactly as true as the equation it came from.

1The equation, from your manuscript, verbatim.
2Code, generated to plot it, checked symbolically and dimensionally.
3The figure, rendered from that code. Change a parameter and it stays correct.
E² = (pc)² + (mc²)²
# the energy-momentum relation, rendered exactly import numpy as np p = np.linspace(0, 3, 200) # in units of mc E = np.sqrt((p)**2 + 1) # in units of mc^2 plot(p, E) # curve below axline(slope=1) # photon asymptote E=pc
Relativistic energy vs momentum. The curve meets the axis at the rest energy mc² and approaches E = pc for a photon.
How your book is made

Start with one chapter. We build the rest.

Send a single chapter and we typeset it, free, so you see the quality before anything else. Then our engine drafts the book and three tiers of human scholars read every line before it reaches you.

01 · ONE CHAPTER

Start free

Send one chapter of your material. We typeset it and return a free sample, so you judge the quality before anything else.

2–3 days to your sample
02 · THE ENGINE

26 engines draft it

A suite of 26 specialised engines, built over the last months across the whole of pedagogy, drafts the structure, the figures, the worked examples and the problem sets.

2–4 weeks for a full book
03 · HUMAN REVIEW

Three tiers of scholars

Post-doctoral and post-PhD reviewers read and proofread the book, tier by tier: subject accuracy, then pedagogy, then a final line proof.

3–6 weeks
04 · YOUR APPROVAL

You approve every page

Nothing is final until you have read and signed off the proof. Your voice, your call, always.

06 · OPTIONAL 4D

The tutor on the page

Add the living layer whenever you like: the Fermi tutor, reachable from a printed mark beside the idea.

anytime after
A typical book runs one to two semesters, from first chapter to printed copies; a short work can be faster. You receive a written schedule with dates before any paid work begins, so you know whether you can teach from it next term.
Editorial & review

Who makes your book, and who is accountable for it.

We are plain about this, because you will have to be, in your preface and to your institution. A first draft is produced by software; every word that ships is read, corrected and approved by human scholars, and then by you.

1

Subject accuracy

A reviewer in the book’s own field checks every claim, derivation and figure against your source, and against the literature.

PhD and post-doctoral, in the field
2

Pedagogy

A second reviewer checks the sequence, the misconceptions pre-empted, the worked examples and the problems, for how a student actually learns.

Post-PhD, with teaching experience
3

The line proof

A final proof editor reads the set pages cover to cover for typography, notation and consistency, before anything reaches you.

Professional proof editor
Human and machine, stated plainly. The 26-engine drafting system is software, built and maintained by Fermi. It never has the last word: a claim it cannot trace to your source, or verify symbolically, is flagged for a human rather than printed. You are named as the author; Fermi Press as the publisher and typesetter; the engine is a tool, and is disclosed as one.
Acquisitions, board and errata. We take work we can set to the standard of the shelf above, and we decline what we cannot. A published errata process corrects any error a reader reports, in print and in the PDF. Our named editorial and advisory board is being announced as the imprint is formalised; until then, every book is reviewed by the three tiers above and signed off by you.
The 4D edition

Optionally, a book that answers back.

In a 4D edition, a small printed mark sits beside a key term, a worked example, a figure. Scan it, and Euler, the Fermi tutor, opens, already holding that exact page.

Scan · Euler opens on this page
Define · Ask · Simulate

Every mark is a doorway into the page.

Not a link to a generic chatbot. Each mark is a unique code that opens the tutor already loaded with this term, this figure, this chapter, in the book’s own notation.

Define
The term, in the book’s own words and level.
Ask
A real question, answered from this chapter.
Simulate
Turn the figure’s dials; the physics stays true.
Reachable from the printed page. Nothing to install.

At two in the morning, a student scans the mark and Euler answers from the page they are on, in the notation they were taught.Optional. Any 2D book can be upgraded to 4D later.

Distribution & rights

A book that counts on a CV, and outlives you.

A publisher is not a printer. Your book has to be findable, orderable, citable and yours, for a long time, in ways a promotion committee and a research office recognise.

Findable & orderable
  • ISBN and a citable DOI
  • Listed with major retail and library wholesalers
  • Print-on-demand worldwide; offset for larger runs
  • A colleague abroad can simply order a copy
Yours, in law
  • You hold the copyright, always
  • A royalty on every copy sold
  • Rights revert to you on request
  • Print-ready files and sources are yours to keep
For the long term
  • Revisions and second editions on your terms
  • Archival deposit with legal-deposit libraries

  • If you move, or Fermi folds, your files and rights stay yours
Part of Fermi

Fermi Press is the publishing house of Fermi.

Fermi brings the professors who shaped their fields to every learner, through faculty-led courses and a tutor that is always there. Fermi Press is where those professors’ own material becomes a book, and where the tutor steps off the screen and onto the page.

Questions

The questions we are asked first.

What does it cost, and how does that work?
Fermi Press publishes by invitation. If we take on your book, we agree the terms with you privately, in a single written proposal, before any paid work begins, so there are no hourly meters and no surprises. The sample chapter we set during consideration is at our own cost. Cost depends on the length of the book, the route, and whether you add the 4D layer.
How long does it take?
A typical book runs one to two semesters from first chapter to printed copies: two to four weeks of drafting, three to six weeks of human review, then your sign-off and about two weeks to print. Short works can be faster. You get a schedule with dates in your quote, so you know if you can teach from it next term.
Who actually does the work, humans or AI?
Both, and we never hide which. A 26-engine drafting system (software, built by Fermi) produces the first draft. Three tiers of human scholars, post-PhD and post-doctoral, then review and correct every claim, figure and line, and you approve every page. Anything the engine cannot trace to your source or verify is flagged for a human, not printed.
Do I keep my copyright?
Yes, always. You hold the copyright, you keep the print-ready files and sources, you earn a royalty on every sale, and rights revert to you on request. Fermi Press is your publisher and typesetter, never the owner of your work. A sample author agreement is available before you commit.
Can students and libraries actually order the book?
Yes. Every title carries an ISBN and a DOI, is listed with major retail and library wholesalers, and is available print-on-demand worldwide, with offset runs for larger orders. A colleague in another country can order a copy like any other book.
If the tutor gives a student a wrong answer beside my paragraph, is that on me?
No. The Euler tutor is a Fermi service, labelled as such on the page; its answers are attributed to Fermi, not to you or your text. It is scoped to your chapter and is corrected through the same errata process as the book. The 4D layer is always optional, and your printed words stand on their own.
Is the output accessible?
Yes. We ship a tagged, screen-reader-friendly PDF, an EPUB, and mathematics as MathML, so students using assistive technology can read the equations, not just the prose. Accessibility is part of the proof standard, not an afterthought.
What do you do with my data?
We use your name, email and institution only to prepare and send your sample and quote. We do not sell or share your material or your details, and your manuscript is never used to train models without your written consent. See the privacy note linked below.
Talk to a person
A real editor replies, usually within a working day. Registered company details are on request.

The Fermi story

The best teaching has never reached everyone. Until now.

Fermi exists to give every learner, anywhere, the instruction that until now belonged to a lucky few lecture halls. STEM, the way it should be taught.

What Fermi is

Fermi is a STEM learning platform that pairs faculty-led courses from professors who shaped their fields with an AI tutor that is always there, so understanding never has to wait for office hours. It is built to carry world-class teaching across the three walls that have always contained it: geography, affordability, and scale. It launches in 2026, beginning with physics.

Where Fermi Press fits

A course is taught once; a book is kept for a career. Fermi Press is the publishing house of Fermi: it turns a professor’s own material into a book worth keeping, beautifully typeset, with figures drawn correct by construction and every line read by a human editor.

And in a 4D edition, the book joins the platform. The same tutor that answers in a Fermi course, Euler, is reachable from a printed mark on the page: Define, Ask, Simulate. The book stops being a record of the lecture and becomes a place you can still ask questions.
